Stunning Conclusion
This is a beautiful series. That's all I have to say. Well, no. I'll say more. But watching these girls grow up... it made tears come to my eyes as I read it. It was bittersweet. I kept reminding myself that this was the final book, and that Mrs. Frederick had matured the girls up and that was that. But I want to cry! I'll always want more stories about the girls. They're just irresistible.*If you don't want spoilers, don't read ahead* Onto my review. The reason that this series had me so hooked was because of the fact that it was realistic, and relatable. The five girls all had distinct qualities that drew them together yet set them apart. With all of them helping each other, there's really nothing they can't overcome together. Each girl had their moments. Cassidy was as hilarious as ever, making the girls laugh at every page of the book. She was repulsed at the thought of guys at the beginning of the series, yet now she changes her mind. Jess, the sweet, intelligent girl who was so shy, she's changed so much as well. Emma, insecure, is now confident that she has friends to rely on. Megan, first friend, then foe, then friend again, she's also changed. Becca, snarky yet confident and loyal, is so much nicer. To go from 11 years of age to 16 is a huge jump. I loved that we were able to follow with their triumphs, their mistakes, and laugh along. Again, it's just beautiful. I also loved the couples. Darcy just made my heart melt. Every sweet thing he did for Jess, I swooned. If I had a boyfriend, I'd want one just like him. He's a perfect vision of a guy. Zach was kind of iffy, but I loved how Cassidy described his 'slobbery' kisses. Simon isn't really my type, but like Megan said, he was a really friendly kind of guy that everyone couldn't help but like. Tristan was just hot. I honestly like him way better than Zach, nott only because he's British but also because of his manners, and personality. I loved how Cassidy thought so too. In this book, Stewart kind of made me frown. He was never my favourite kind of guy, but I'm glad Emma has someone to hang onto. And Becca- she may finally have found her guy. It's funny in a slightly creepy way. I'm really happy with the ending. Don't get me wrong, I'd read this series on and on if there were more, but sadly, there isn't. But I'm really glad the author tied up loose ends and left us with something we could love and cherish forever. This series will be something you would read to comfort you, and to remind you that there are many people out there in the world who are just like you. I'll miss this series dearly, but like everyone says, all good things must come to an end.Find full review here : littlethingsofmyday(dot)blogspot(dot)ca

wish you were eyre
This year the Mother-Daughter Book Club will be reading Jane Eyre. Not everything always goes smoothly for the girls, but they at least have their friends in the book club to help them through the storms of life. When Sophie Fairfax comes to live with the Wong's for a year jealousy flairs. The girls band together to pull off a prank that will put Sophie in her place, but will it backfire on them?Emma is feeling that her boyfriend Stewart is paying too much attention to Sophie. When they both are enlisted to help Mrs. Wong campaign for mayor their time together is limited and both begin to feel the strain.Jess has a sub in her calculus class who accuses her of cheating. At risk is her scholarship and her position as a soloist in her Madrigirls singing group.Cassidy is not sure about her relationship with Zach. She likes him, in fact he is like her best friend, but she is not sure that she wants him as a boyfriend. As always Cassidy is the one to come up with the plan for Sophie's embarrassment.Megan is feeling the most hurt by Sophie's arrival. Sophie seems to gain the attention of everyone she meets. Megan's mom and grandmother are among Sophie's fans. Even Megan's new kitten seems to like Sophie better than Megan! Megan is looking forward to her trip to Paris with Gigi. She can't wait to visit the fashion shows and see all of the sites of France.Becca has been working at Gigi's tea house to help her family with their finances while her father is out of work. Becca wonders if there is a Mr. Rochester "out there" for her somewhere.I've come to love all of these girls! They and their mothers make me laugh. Sadly this is the last book in The Mother-Daughter Book Club series. I have to say that if it had to be the end of the series I am quite happy with the wrap-up. Although I was kind of hoping that the author would carry the series through the girls' senior year. But alas, that is not to be! I've enjoyed each book in the series. I have loved reading each girls story and how they have grown up throughout the series. I found the writing refreshing in each book without any need for adding sexual situations or language to taint the quality of the stories. I had borrowed the first few books from the library, but went ahead and bought all of them last year so that some day I can pass them on to my grand-daughters. The Mother-Daughter Book Club is one of my favorite series and I will miss them very much.

A great touch-base on Jane Eyre for Girls Aged 9-13yrs
The Mother-Daughter Book Club is back and this time they are reading "Jane Eyre" and it seems that a few of them definitely have some lessons to learn from Jane Eyre and a few other stories they have been reading or are exposed to. In Wish You Were Eyre , we discover that Becca has got a job working at Megan's grandmother Gigi's shop "Pies and Prejudice" , Megan is off to Paris and has been given the opportunity to cover the Fashion Week show due to her blog, Emma is having boyfriend problems as her boyfriend Stewart seems more occupied with newcomer Sophie who is from France and staying with Megan , Jess has been accused of cheating which means that she could lose not only her spot in the Accapella groud MardiGals but also her scholarship and Cassidy is taking her team to the champisonships but also has boyfriend problems as her eye his drawn to someone other than Zach. With lots happening including marriages, nasty girls, new babies and friendship problems it looks like the girls will have to join forces in overcoming any obstacles thrown in their way and like Jane - That's Eyre not Austen they must grow a backbone and find the courage to stand up for what they believe is right and needs to be said. The Mother-Daughter Book Club series , though is quite a lengthy read is aimed at girls aged 9-13years but is quite enjoyable as they find themselves relating the stories not only to themselves these days but they also get to learn neat facts and bond over the books. This series is also good for the 13+ who love reading renditions of classics and just want to have some fun downtime to read and not have to worry too much about the content and detail of the storyline.
