Great product until you need support
I've had this water heater at my cabin for about 4 years now. It heats water quickly, minimal issues installing or maintaining it (other than no drain at the bottom so you have to remove it when full of water to winterize). Last year when draining the tank a bunch of particles came out indicating the anode needed replacing, tried to get one but couldn't find it on the website. Emailed their tech support who said to call the support number and inquire about it (why couldnt the support guy do that?), called the number twice and sat on hold for over 20 minutes with no answer before giving up both times. In short while it worked great I would not buy from this company again, impossible to find a basic maintenance part and support that put in no effort at all. Very disappointed.

First, the water heater is well built and insulated. The unit works as advertised and connection was easy. The fittings are plastic so care is required not to cross thread or over tighten any of the connections. Be sure to move your dishwasher inlet hose to the output of the mini tank if you are installing the mini tank as a booster.I did not give the 4.0 Gallon Eccotemp Mini Tank 5 stars due to the following: 1.The unit is tall with a large pressure relief valve placed on top, I installed it in the cabinet below the kitchen sink which I consider a typical kitchen sink installation, The unit would fit better if it were larger in the length and width and not as tall. The height of the unit did not allow it to install under the sink itself and I had to place it in the front part of the cabinet which left less room for kitchen supply storage. 2. The power cable is very short and failed to reach the under sink electrical receptacle already installed by about 2 inches. The cord should be at least two to three feet longer to allow the heater tank to be installed away from the sink. The unit required a new longer power cord to be installed for this installation.I installed the unit as a booster in the hot water line. Prior to purchase I measured 2.3 gal water use before the water to the kitchen sink from the house water heater arrived sufficiently hot. With the booster tank installed leaving the hot water tap open I get piping hot water for about 2.5 gallons then the water temperature slowly declines to about 105F-100F as the cold water on the house supply cools the remaining water in the 4 gallon tank, about 1 gallon later the temperature rises back to hot as the main water heater sends hot water to the mini tank. The unit is great for my needs as most small washing jobs can be completed with 2.5 gallons. I noticed that my dishwasher which is now running on water from the mini tank finishes faster as it no longer goes to heating delay while it struggles to heat the incoming water.

Make sure you have power to your outlet. Disposal is on a switch.
It was a pain getting the correct fitting, but once I got it, it was easy to connect. When I plugged it in, it didn't work. Well..... After getting all upset and returning it having to pay $61 return postage, I figured out it was ALL MY FAULT!! I was testing it by plugging it into the garbage disposal outlet, not realising it has no power to it unless the switch is on. Anyway, an expensive mistake on my part. I ordered a new one. All is well, now!!😮😮

Decent heater
Bought this on recommendation from my contractor/plumber to install with new utility sink, which is opposite end of the house (stories down) diagonally from the water heater. So I didn't want to wait 2-4 minutes to get hot water. It works well, definitely silent, hookup & connections were super simple. The only downfall is I underestimated how little 4 gallons really is. I keep the water temp setting just short of Max, and I only get about 1-2 minutes of hot/warm water before noticing a substantial cool down, back to almost totally cold. I'm using a nice faucet with sprayer hose, I highly doubt it's passing through anywhere near 4 GPM, probably closer to 1.5-2. So not sure why hot water ends so quickly. If you have the space, I recommend getting a larger capacity heater, if you plan to need hot running water for more than 1-2 minutes at a time. But it does heat back up quickly.

Just what we needed
So happy to have this little unit. We are remodeling our indoor kitchen. Luckily we had an outdoor kitchen under a pavilion roof. The sink only had seasonal cold water line to the sink, so we added this little gem. Perfect. We do have it installed in cabinetry, so it is outdoors but protected. We will drain before freezing weather hits. Love it. Would of given it a 5 star but installation was a little tricky. Needed to get plumbing parts to connect.

Works great
Bought this to replace the gas water heater on my vintage Burro camper. Used a couple of shark bite fittings and set it up to back feed thru the drain on my old water heater which let me keep the old heater in place, just turned off the supply valve. I set up the heater on the outside of the camper and hook up the supple line( hose) to the campground water supply and the feed line (heat resistant rubber hose) connects to the drain on the old heater. This doubles the amount of hot water in the holding tanks. Plug the heater into the campground outlet and in 1/2 HR lots of hot water

WINTER USER BEWARE!
I purchased this water heater for use in my barn. I knew I would only use it during about 7 months of the year because of freezing temps. What I didn't know (maybe I should have) is that in order to keep this unit from freezing during the Winter, I would have to not only turn the water off to it, but then remove the fittings and uninstall it from the bracket on the wall. Then carry the unit filled with water outside and then turn it upside down in order to drain. One would think that the geniuses that designed this could have put a drain on the bottom. But no, as usual "live and learn". I just get so frustrated when I spend a few hundred dollars on an item, spend money to have it installed and then have to bust my balls protecting it from freezing. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS ITEM IF IT WILL BE SUBJECT TO FREEZING AS THERE IS NO EASY WAY TO DRAIN IT. Except for my big complaint, this unit mounted easily enough and worked very well.

Perfect for my project
This is very good value and a great solution if you want a happy wife that loves her kitchen and needs instant hot water. The plastic fittings is the only reason for 3 star on install. Leaks are hard to stop cause of fear of over tighten stripping plastic treads.Water gets very hot and has enough supply for steam dishwasher, that's a tall order. Results - happy wife = happy life.

Great little unit. Not recommended for wieners who need TONS OF WATER to get by!
I build tiny homes on wheels, my family and I live in a tiny home and have been using the cheapest outdoor ecco-temp hotter on demand they have got during the spring summer and fall. Just picked up the 4.0 gallon electric mini tank and it works like a hot damn. Great for all day use washing hands and dishes. You can even have a shower with it and thats why we tried it. It takes about 30 mins to heat up from cold so if you have a multi family dwelling you can all shower in 1 day if need be. We've been running it for about a week so far and will update as we use the product.
