What is an FMOD? The FMOD is an active crossover simulator. It is better than a much more expensive electronic crossover that requires power to operate. FMODs are packaged in pairs and can be combined with other FMODs to obtain bandpass ranges or with other types of crossovers to change the slope and crossover frequency point. FMODs feature a 12 dB per octave crossover slope and are compatible with all RCA type input amps...simply place the FMOD in-line with the patch cable running between the source (head unit) and the amplifier. 24kt gold over brass construction, 10 volts maximum RMS input. One-year manfacturer warranty. Made in the U.S.A.

Subwoofer rumble is removed, strong bass remains.
This is an audio review as I don't use this audio system and filters often for home video. I was having a difficult time tuning my sub's crossover and output level for music. I prefer strong bass, especially in the drums and bass guitar area but don't care for heavy amounts of low frequency synth rumble that is prevalent in a lot of new recordings. I like the sound to be punchy and deep in the bass but not overly "rumbly". These filters do a very nice job of filtering out most of the very low bass but still let some of this information creep in so it's not a hard cutoff. I also have my subwoofer on a foam isolation pad because I have wood floors. The floors were also likely somewhat contributing to the overly deep sound. Bottom line, I know some people like very deep room vibrating bass and that's fine. For me, maybe if I'm watching a movie and want to hear the rumble of a building collapse or an explosion or something, that's fine I guess, but for music reproduction, no way. I'm not clear why they don't also include high pass filters on subwoofers so people can cut, to their liking, sounds below 40-50Hz to suit their needs and room conditions. These filters do just that, starting at 50Hz with a relatively slow 12db roll-off slope.

Degradation of audio signal
Degrades the signal too much. I created my own passive filter to block the low frequencies and they sounded better than these by far.

unfortunate HF block above 8KHz
I measured the output with and without these filters in the chain between pre-amp and amp. They do cut the Lows as claimed, but also the highs which kills my sound so cannot agree with the distortion free claim. Returned. Otherwise, seem well made.

Useful product
Used these to roll off the bottom end on a couple speakers that are rated to go down to 30 Hz, but which are too small to do so well.Solved the problem.

Outstanding
Used to actively bi-amp speakers. Made amp incredibly more efficient. On a side note, you do need some knowledge in how amps and speakers work to properly size your crossovers (and a good ear doesn't hurt). You may also need to try other sizes and/or combinations to get the sound curve you want.

Good product
Work really well. Used in a setup with and homemade sub and work like a charm.
