Q: If someone knows the kind of alarm i use, can they buy the same and use their remote to disarm my alarm?

Good question. Original remote can control the alarm directly. As to additional remote control, it can't activate or deactivate alarm directly. It need to be paired with alarm before using. Thief will trigger alarm before he try to pair remote with alarm.

Q: Can these go on French doors on a patio? Would I need two?

If there is a surface they can stick to then yes I put them on sliding doors for a shed work great surprisingly long battery life

Hi yes they would worg on patio doors but unless your doors meet very closeley you would need 2

You must have the magnet in place next to unit with the arrows matching up when activating if not the alarm goes off immediately. If you are doing this then the unit is not sensing the magnet and therefore must be faulty.
