This may be all one needs for a quick-grab SERE kit. I would suggest this for security professionals who have to ensure they maintain the edge, even in contingencies. The key on the end of a saw blade is a great mechanism for combining common use SERE tools. I've seen this once before, from a much more expensive kit, but I decided to copy this basic format with the ITS kit (also available on Amazon under label SPIE Kit), by drilling a tiny hole into one of their keys, and inserting their included diamond saw; I then cut down extra material on both the key and the saw to fit into the capsule I keep it in. But I credit this Escape Stick with the inspiration to do that.This is a tad larger than I might prefer, and yet you can cut down the length of the rod with your Dremel (if you have a need for a kit like this, you should already have a Dremel). And, as one other reviewer noted, this is NOT "non-magnetic". It stuck to a 100# magnet I had sitting nearby for dear life. Now, maybe that's a good thing, because it might give you more options for stowing/hiding, if you think of creating a small magnetic base for clicking this away somewhere you need it later (backseat or trunk, out/inside luggage) but the tubular aspect of this kit as it comes is also something you can insert inside a handle, especially nylon strap handles that either have an open end instead of having been sewn shut, or one you can run a paracord wrap around. You can easily include this inside any paracord wrap, for that matter.

This thing is really cool. I love the multi-functionality it has, giving you the the ability to escape from single & double lock handcuffs, zip ties, rope, various types of tape and cord. The integrated cuff key works well on the cuffs I own. My problem is that details in the description are incorrect and downright misleading. It says the item is "completely non-metallic and non-magnetic"; which is completely untrue. The integrated cuff key is brass I believe and is non-magnetic but the carbide rod saw has a steel core. I know this because the rod saw sticks very strongly to magnets; therefore it is absolutely not "non-metallic" or "non-magnetic". The toothed shim/pick/saw component is stainless steel; making it metallic obviously, yet this piece does actually happen to be non-magnetic. The description also claims the item is "7.5 inches long", which it is not. It's actually only 3 inches long. The only way it could equal 7.5" is if you take the components apart and line them up next to each other; which is not the usual way to list a product's length. The description details made me think I could get through metal detectors with it but now I am very doubtful. Aside from the misleading description on this page I like it, but I am disappointed that it's not what it claims to be as far as materials/properties. The details in the description on the actual package that arrived were more accurate.

Clever and highly concealable item, if you think it likely you'll ever have the opportunity to use it!Can free one from zip ties, handcuffs, rope ties, etc. and can be virtually undetectable by captors, depending on where you carry it; inside a pocket, taped onto one's lower back or inside your belt. It's very compact and could be very useful in a kidnapping scenario, hostage situation, or other circumstance where one might find themselves held captive.
