I adore Hugh Grant--funny, sexy--and I bought this collection awhile ago for the ridiculously low price of something like $12. My only complaint is that it includes "An Awfully Big Adventure," which was an "awfully big mistake." I think this is one of the worst movies ever made, and the fact that it's referred to as a comedy is simply insane. Here are some spoilers: Incest (father/daughter), suicide (father, after finding out that he had sex with his own daughter), a second suicide, I think (the daughter). This was a really sick movie, IMO, and I would have been so much happier had it not been included in this set. "Nine Months" or "Englishman..." would have been better choices. Oh, "Bitter Moon" (not in this set, thank goodness), is another seriously sick movie. I have watched the other three movies many, many times over and love them.

I purchased this dvd for Mickey blue eyes but music & lyrics is also a movie I enjoyed watching so that's a double bonus for me. I don't recall if I've seen Two weeks notice but I think it'll be a good movie to watch. I've never heard of the adventures one so I'm not sure about that one. Based on other reviewers of that movie, it is a rated R so not suitable for young viewers. I'm looking forward to watching the first three.

Three of the four movies are great (my definition of pleasant distraction). The purpose of a movie, for me, is not to solve major problems or to have a hero or heroine. For me, a simple, funny mix that gives a happy ending, an expected ending. This equals relaxation when I have down time. Hugh Grant is great at being an attractive lead while being effortlessly funny. Have not been able to get into Big Awful Adventure, but three of four give what I purchased the DVD for.

What a great collection.I like 3 movies out of 4 from this collection.I only hated An Awfully Big Adventure which I saw it because it was in the collection. Otherwise I would have never watched. That movie was so horrible.Other movies, although I have watched them before, I loved so much wathcing them again.This collection is a must own and I will watch them from time to time.

My daughter told me I would like Hugh Grant and I ordered this just to see if it was true. I LOVE him. He is a great actor and these are all good movies, Romantic and funny and just "feel good" movies.

Love Hugh Grant. Great "chick-flicks" movies. The jury is still out on the double sided DVD. I'm not sure I like the idea - although I'm not entirely sure why - maybe both sides need to be protected - maybe you can't see the name of the movies (on either side) well. I like having one movie per DVD.

Like many people it seems, I bought this for An Awfully Big Adventure which otherwise quite hard to get. Ithas it's own menu (the two dvds flip over and have the second movie ob the backside) AND subtitles. Perfect!I don't know about the other films, but I guess it's a nice bonus for the price.

While these are not Grant's best or most famous films this is a nice collection as a set. The romantic comedies are fun and worth the purchase on their own. Mickey Blue Eyes has some cringe making moments for its charicatures of the Mob but is Ok.The fourth film is a drama set in post WWII English provincial theatre. It is a departure from how Grant is generally viewed and yet shows his range is not limited to comedy. If you have a sense of time and place it is almost a must see.

Part of one movie did not play - halfway through Music and Lyrics the DVD is blank. Big disappointment as I purchased it as a gift. I should be getting a new one or my money back. This quality of product is unacceptable.

Got this set for the movie Mickey Blue eyes. Funny, and enjoyable.

This is a Region 1 box set, and you do need a compatible device to play the DVDs. However, this is clearly stated in the product description and should not come as a surprise to buyers. The 2 DVDs are a double sided format, with two films on each disc, one on the front one on the reverse.The description "4 Film Favorites" is somewhat optimistic. The four films included are not Hugh Grant's best or most popular films. The reason I bought this collection is that it includes the otherwise hard to come by title "An Awfully Big Adventure" starring both Hugh Grant and Alan Rickman. This film is a gritty and slightly unpleasant drama, vastly different from the three romantic comedies also included. Especially Alan Rickman's performance is worth seeing. This is likely more interesting for fans of Mr. Rickman than those who enjoy the typical fluffy romcoms starring Mr. Grant.
