This action of heating is very similar to the sun and it has the ability to heat anything that it strikes but with the air temperature remaining much lower. Reptiles absorb this at in a manner very similar to basking in a natural environment. Heat mats do get warm but provide a very gentle warmth which the animal can sit under or on top of. doesn't heat up
Bought this the other day because my carpet Python needs a temperature of 23 at night time so I thought a heat Matt of this size would comfortably supply that amount of heat. However this morning I came downstairs and found that the Tempeature in the viv( thermometer sitting on the heat Matt) was 17 ! Without the heat Matt it was 16, I paid £23 and bought a £30 thermostat for the sake of one degree! I don't know if I just got a faulty Matt but this is ridiculous that it only heats up by 1degree above what it was before

Defective
Was sent a defective heat mat the top would get very hot whilst the bottom wouldnt even heat up all that much which gave me a varied temperature instead of a constant one 90c for my leopard geckos id look elsewhere

Does it’s job
Does it’s job, very easy to install. Moulded UK plug though so bear that in mind, but no problem if you know how to cut the plug off and rewire into another plug.
