I'm not saying anything bad about the people who spoke before me.. but i have to say this isn't a great studio arm. It is very light which is a pro i guess, but it doesn't feel very sturdy, but i suppose its sturdy enough to hold my microphone. The microphone clip is not designed for my microphone.. nor any microphone i've held in the past 10 years... It appears it is right for... an extra large hand held microphone, i'm currently using a sennheiser e835 which does not fit into the given clip, so i had to take apart the clip so i could use mine. When i say take apart i'm not just saying unscrewing the given clip and putting on mine, well that'd be ideal, because sennheiser made a nice sturdy feeling clip, instead i had to take the clip itself into the two pieces and swap the holding piece of the clip to the other mount part of the clip.Anyways, as for people who just want an entry level studio arm i suppose this is adequate but its not a very well made product so don't expect it to be. If i was the manufacturer i would have probably come down a bit in price just because of the sheer ick factor of the quality. As i was writing this i noticed the XLR plug does not fit perfectly into the back of my microphone snugly (very loose), i've used livewire plugs that work wonders and fit firmly into the back. I suppose it sounds ok anyways. The wire i have noticed also feels a lot less dense and firm than an average livewire xlr cable. Again i guess you can't look at this expecting perfection, you spent 50 dollars on it, but just be warned its not nearly to the quality you'd find from hein or something like that. Enjoy.

Bang for Buck
Considering how much cheaper this arm is than the others, I've been more than happy with it. This arm may not have the range of motion offered by more expensive competitors, but does it need it? I'd say that the extra range offered by competitors is overkill for situations like mine. I use this thing to hold my acoustic guitar mic and it's been great. I grab it when I want it, and shove it out of the way when I'm done. When I'm in the middle of a song and I decide it's time to record acoustic gtr, i just reach over and grab the boom. The mic setup/placement takes less than five seconds, and the mic is positioned exactly where it would be if I was using a traditional stand. It's literally a million times better than having to set up a mic stand, and just as effective. I feel like a chump for using mic stands all those years. If you value your time as being worth money, as most americans do, then this thing will pay for itself many times over in saved setup time. No brainer.

Surprisingly solid!
I have to say that one of the main reasons I chose this mic arm was price. I didn't want to spend top dollar on one because I just wasn't sure I would like it. I also didn't want to buy the cheapest one I could find because that might guarantee I didn't like it.I've never had a mic arm before so I looked at a few of the items in the descriptions and quickly realized that there was a HUGE difference in size and weight on most of them. This one seemed to be big enough to stretch across an average desk and heavy enough to be solid. It's a VERY solid triple frame arm that moves nicely, is easy to attach and works like a charm! I expect this to last quite a long time and I'm VERY happy with it!

Looks cheap, works well
This gizmo looks just like a 1970's era desk arm lamp, however it works very well even with a fairly heavy studio mike in upside down position. Once adjusted and locked in place it shakes with the desk, but everything stays put. The vibration does not transfer to the mic.Having the cables inside the rails makes it look cleaner as well. The only part of the whole thing I was a bit disappointed in was the screw type desk mount. It seemed to bend as I tightened it, but if I tightened it any less it would wobble on the desk, so if the part was stronger it would be perfect. It does come with a permanet screw-in mount as well, so that may be the way to go.

Awesome Professional Boom Arm
This was purchased to hold my dynamic microphone in my home studio setup..before , my dynamic mic was on a floor boom arm mic stand..Just love it..I have expanded my work surface by 4 feet & have since received a second boom arm from Q Qic to hold my new heavier & larger MXL990 condenser mic..I now have my dream micing setup..Each mic runs into 2 different audio mixers, for maximum flexibility..The fact that these boom arms come equipped with high quality mic cables already built in is even better..If you want a true professional studio setup, you should purchase a couple of these boom arms..You will be VERY happy...

Good value, and works as advertised!
I recently purchased a QM-50 mic boom and installed it. It works as advertised and is a good value, especially compared with more expensive competing products. However, if your intended mounting location is not a flat surfaced lip (allowing the included clamp to grip securely), then the optional MAK (Mount Anything Kit) provides a variety of additional base hardware, greatly expanding the number of potential QM-50 boom mounting locations. Specifically, I bolted the round base supplied in the MAK to a corner of a steel file cabinet next to a desk. The 40-inch balanced, QM-50 articulated boom arm easily and securely swings the mic over to the operator's working desk position.

Boom Mic
Solid product for the price. If you want a true studio type feel this is the product for you. The easily install clamp fixture type is perfect for the do it yourself studio application. The price is also unbeatable for half the price of the competition you cant go wrong with this product. I have ordered 3 of these already and i am already planning on another one soon for my studio setup, its a perfect solution for hands free recording.

why pay more?
I didn't want to pay a fortune for a mike arm so when I found the Q-Mic arm, I bought it. I was not disappointed. It holds a Norman mike (not a small mike)and pop screen and have been very happy with the results. It works. We do voice-overs and internet radio so it's used quite a bit. Our talent has spent years in pro broadcasting and has likes this arm. We'll be buying more when we need them. Great value!
