With the Weck brand, you can expect a great product!
With the Weck brand, you can expect a great product. The jar is high quality and very durable. This is the second Weck jar in our cabinet to give us the flexibility to store discard or just to rotate our starter to keep the jars clean. This jar did arrive with a very small chip on the lid but it was not sharp enough to cut or located where it would cause any problems.

New favorite
Love this-i have a growing collection of sour dough starter jars and this is my new favorite. The size (a bit larger but not too large-easy to clean!), the weight (a bit heavier than some I own and lighter than others-not afraid it’s going to break) and my starter seems to love it. So glad I bought this, win-win!

Multi use weck tulip jar with wooden lid option
Perfect for sour dough starter. Wooden lid is perfect for other uses - sugar container or whatever you choose. Weck jars are durable and easy to clean. It arrived sooner then expected- ended up buying 3 more as I loved it so much!

Great buy—my loaves are rocking!
I use the vessel to store my sourdough starter, and I bake several times a week for friends and family. I use this super Duper easy recipe: by the way, I totally recommend the vessel.Instructions for easy crock pot recipe:Feed starter night before. Wait till it at least doubles in size before use.4 1/3 cup flower1 1/4 cup water1/2 cup starter1 tsp saltA nice dollop of honeyMix and rest for 30 mins.Kneed and fold2.5 hour riseFold2.5 hour riseFold<optional 24-48 hours in the fridge to really make it sour, increased cook time by 15 minutes for cold dough>Crockpot on high, put parchment paper in, place dough in, score as you like.Cook 2 hours on highWhen it comes out, it will look like a white steamed bun, so I always placed under the broiler for a couple minutes to Brown up the top. I baked it with a little olive oil before doing so and sprinkle some kosher salt.Once you get the recipe down in general, experiment with adding your favorite spices, and other things: I’ve done garlic, rosemary, herbs d’ Provence, fennel, seeds, olive oil, even Parmesan cheese with a sprinkle of mustard powder.

Good for sourdough starter
Bought this to start making a sourdough starter and it works great. I was using the glass lid for a while but switched to the white lid and they both work well for my starter. My jar came chipped on the lid and a slight chip at the base, but it hasn't affected my use of the jar ( i just have to make sure not to slide/cut my finger along the glass lid's edge). I haven't used the metal clips yet but everything else works as expected.

Perfect for storage and easy to clean and survived being in oven at 425 degrees.
Loved the size and they were perfect for pantry storage. I even tried using it for sourdough starter. A family member turn the wrong oven at 425F to bake onion rings. Instead the oven holding my weck jar with sourdough heated up. 20 mins pass and sourdough was burnt yet the weck jar never cracked. we let it cool and then poured hot water, dawn and BarKeeper let it sit for awhile. Jar and lid were cleaned with no problems. The glass quality is worth every penny.
