Novelist Colleen McCullough's grand soap opera about a priest caught up in a forbidden Australian outback-rooted romance eventually sprawls over five decades and half the globe, but Mancini skillfully keeps its emotional core focused via some of the most subtly romantic and elegantly understated writing of his career. His sublime melodic gifts yield the memorable Drogheda and Maggie themes, the former's portrayal of the vast Australian wilderness ingeniously carried at first by but a lone dulcimer, while the latter perfectly underpins the story's budding romance with tinges of bittersweet melancholy. -- Jerry McCulley

Excellent soundtrack. My favorite composition from Henry Mancini. An exclamation point on an incredible career in music. If you liked the mini series, you'll like this soundtrack too. Would definitely buy again.

A Long Awaited Dream Come True!
This is an album that I've waited well over thirty years for. I'm a film score lover, and this, for whatever reason, was never recorded back them. As a Mancini fan, I've waited for others over the years; for example, "Breakfast at Tiffany's," with Audrey Hepburn actually singing on the track! This is a wonderful album, and if you enjoyed "Thorn Birds," and remember how those themes can get into your help, especially from a Mancini compilation recording, this is your relief and utter enjoyment!!

Stunning and beautiful
I purchased the CD after watching the Thornbirds mini series AGAIN! It is truly one of the most beautiful movie scores ever written, as only Henry Mancini could do. The CD also included a booklet on Mancini's inspiration, and enthusiasm for writing this project, and talked about the chosen Dulcimer as the predominant instrument used in the scoring of the music. This is a must for any and all movie musical score collectors like me!!!

I have always loved the thornbirds since the first time that I watched it.this soundtrack has all of the music from the mini-series and will keep you listeningfor hours. This CD is hard to find, so if you are looking for a great deal, this place and selleris a great place to do that.

L'article est arrivé dans les temps, en très bon état et dans son emballage d'origine.Ce sont 2 CD qui reprennent l'intégralité de ce magnifique film "Les oiseaux se cachent pour mourir".En l'écoutant on a vraiment l'impression d'être en Australie. Chaque minute est un régal. Comme j'ai regardé ce film des dizaines de fois j'ai l'impression de voir les images défiler sous mes yeux.Vraiment, ça vaut le détour !
