its good but no replasement for the original
this one is good it does 10 and 11 meters. The original one I had would only do 10. Both (original and modernized) will do 10 meters AM/FM upper and lower sideband. roger, beep and instant emergency button. They both (original and modernized) can be converted to 11 meter CB bands. Now the modernized version is extremely easy to convert. The original was a lot more difficult. You to deal with the PLL those who are CB heads will know what that means. Now, this is the one thing I don't like, the Modern one comes from the factory set at 4 watts and is very hard to tune-up. The tune-up shop can do it, but if you don't have a ham license and you just got this radio to turn into an 11-meter mud stomper no license no tune. and if you have a license they will only tune the 10 and 12-meter power. If you take it to the shop already converted they are required by law to notify the FCC and un-modify it. even if you have a ham license the radio was not meant to be converted te engineers at the factor may have given it the ability but they do not advertise so the fCC says your license is gone and oh I'll take your radio too. Now after that long run on and on sentence we will talk about my long lost frienD, the original PRISIDAN LICONAL `Now the original one had all the things the modern wimped out one has it did not have 12 meters. ware the wimpy modern was is easy to convert the original was hard. bonus points to modern times. The original had one thing going for it out of the box. It was set at the factory set at 25 watts. except if you managed to get your hands on an Austrian, or Japanese, they were set at 40-watts at the factory. Rumor in CB land that some factory jobs were set at 60 watts could be true but I doubt it. The original mud stomper was easily peeked and tweaked you could turn it up to 45 watts very easily. The modulation was extremely easily turned up as well but watch how high you go with it. So in conclusion, if you can get your hands on an original in working order snag it, but if you cant President Lincoln II + Is a fine radio as well an exception for beginner hams like me. if you know somebody you can trust to do the conversion to 11 meters then knowledge to peek and tweak do so but while they are doing it stand right by there side. Never trust a friend of friend wae you have to send you radio to. That's how I lost my original President Lincoln Back they were called President Lincoln HR2510 They have replaced it today with roman numeral for two II is the best my Pc can do and the +. So folks that wrap's it up, See Ya on the air. THIS IS STAR CHASER SIGNING OFF.

Best Bang for your Bucks President Lincoln 2 version-3
I have purchased many radios through the years, this is one of the best all around radio on the market, Excellent transmit and receive, also has manual with it ,as most others you must download, however I tried several different microphones and the old d-104 seems to be a perfect match with good clean audio when adjusted properly. Has unlimited features on bandwidth that's all I will say on that feature, It out performs all others in its class with a few adjustments, Will out perform a lot of the big radios.

Value, performance and versatility. Quality a bit lacking.
Received as a gift. I've always wanted one. I'm really enjoying it.Pros:Frequency conversion is ridiculously easy.Excellent receive: quiet, crisp, selective and realistic sounding. It brings in ground wave stations from miles farther than my other radios, without bringing in more noise. Truly, a VERY good receiver. You need to upgrade to a true HF Ham rig (Icom, Yaesu, Kenwood) to get a noticeably better receive.Don't listen to operators with improperly grounded and bonded stations and fiberglass antennas without static busters suffering from corona discharge tell you that this receiver is noisy. This receiver is super sensitive but it can't compensate for a poorly implemented antenna system. There's enough shielding on the board to protect the core at a nuclear power plant. All the frequencies you could ever want and more. All the modes you could ever want and more.SMT board means reliable, vibration resistant operation, neat, compact internals and (if well designed) offers great build quality at more affordable prices. After removing the limiter, AM audio is loud, SHARP, and perfectly clean; a beautiful sounding radio on AM. It has that President speech processor quality to it; it sounds very much like the old D858 chassis. Pairs up very well with a handheld D104b. The Road Devil provides even more punch if you want that "competition skipshooting" sound.FM and SSB audio is beautiful out of the box.Easy to use and intuitive. The Lincoln II's ANL/NB circuits are very sophisticated and effective. (I typically do not use them often, but they balance the quality of reception with noise reduction well).Simple layout and design. Software is good.Somewhat rare (in the U.S.)- not another "me too" radio.Good value. Priced less than most exports and has SSB. You have to spend about $100 more for a decent Stryker with sideband.Enough features to keep you interested- Roger beep, echo, 3 display colors and lots more.Cons:SMT is brutal to work on.Out of the box, AM audio is atrociously anemic, which is disappointing...and removing the limiter is not for the "faint of heart". (I used the smallest soldering tip I have with my head magnifier and my daughter's pointyest tweezers).Quality of buttons, knobs and exterior could be better- Not as refined as the old HR 2510 or original Lincoln, but certainly a cut above the RCI2950. The rotary knob in particular does not give quite as positive a feel as the original Lincoln I or HR2510. (It is also precariously located- too close to the mic gain and clarifier unless you have very small hands- a trade-off for the more compact size). It gives somewhat sloppy tuning and over or under shoots your desired channel/frequency from time to time.Styling could be a little better IMO. It's a bit spartan; the most interesting aspect of the look is the President logo and LINCOLN II embossed across the face.A pair of 3D, color contrasting badges instead of simple silk screened letters would be a welcome upgrade that would give the radio a more distinguished and dignified look.5 star value, 3 star quality, fit and finish, 5 star performance and features.4.5 overall initially. Will update if needed.

Check Reviews First - Then Make Sure You're Buying The Right Model
It's okay for what it is, but the build quality isn't great and it has some issues which could have been easily re-worked by the Chinese mfg. I use it on the bench for the freq. display and rx. now.

Watch the videos on youtube to utilize all the fancy features on President Lincoln II
I had to go to youtube to find out how to change the steps on the frequencies . There is a line under the digit that it is changing on readout. This radio has a lot of features for the price selling on AmazonSimply pushing the main vfo knob in changes the tuning step .To use the fine tune like 28.350.0 to change to 28.350.1I did not see it in the manual but the video will help you out on operation.Small display numbers for mobile use makes it hard to operate in the mobile on actual frequency readout . .I do like the choice of 3 colors for the front display and the audio bandwidth of 300-3000 hz on ssbThe Version 3 Lincoln II is not the Lincoln II+ as it does not have 12 meters 24.890-24.990There is a difference per email with the company .It will have Lincoln ii+ on the front panel .
