Amazing Bang for the Buck*
*If you can get it under Rs. 6000. More on this in the Cons section.Got the 1TB version right after the Great Indian Festival for Rs. 5309, and it's worth every penny. My previous SSD was a Samsung 980 (non-pro) 500GB, and this SSD is a big upgrade even though it's only running in Gen3x2 mode (my laptop cannot provide the full 4 PCIe lanes due to the integrated Vega GPU). Everything including the latency, the IOPS and even the Sequential and Random Speeds are better, and it runs much cooler, even though it's DRAMless. Let's get into the specifics.Pros:1. There is no DRAM, but this SSD can use a large portion of it's storage as SLC Cache. This translates to a third of the drive turning into super fast storage, so over 300GB can be transferred to the drive without a noticeable drop in performance, provided the temperatures remain under control.2. Runs cooler than most other drives, period. There is no need for additional heat sinks, the drive will never go above 50 degrees Celsius when used as a boot drive, and never above 80 degrees Celsius when under constant load. This is over 20 degrees cooler than the SN580 and ~15 degrees cooler than the Samsung 980. The NVMe slot on my laptop is right under the palm rest, so this translates very comfortable surface for my palms to rest on; the 980 always felt warm and uncomfortable whenever it was stressed even a little.3. Because of the low latency, Windows and macOS (I run a hackintosh laptop) feel super snappy. When intalling games from Steam, at the file allocation stage, the laptop remains totally responsive, and the allocation occurs at peak speeds all the time. While my older 980 can have over 100GB of SLC Cache, it never remained as responsive because it got hot immediately (after 20-30 gigs).4. It's a gen4 drive, so when I eventually upgrade my laptop, I won't need to buy a better performing drive. 5GBps peak r/w seems plenty for my needs anyways.Cons:1. The price fluctuates a lot. At the time of writing, the 1TB version is available in not many stores, and on Amazon, the price goes anywhere between 5k to 8k depending on the day, even with the same seller. At 5k (which is how much I paid) or even 6k INR, this drive is totally worth the asking price, MUCH better than the SN580 which regularly stays for the same price. But for 8k, it's much better to go for the 980 Pro, or save a little and go for the 990 Pro. Both of those drives are faster, and Samsung has a robust reputation with warranties and durabilty (better than WD in my opinion). Those drives run hotter, but they're still better in a lot of other aspects.2. There is still no DRAM cache, so if you're working with super large files, you will run into performance issues.3. The packaging, meaning the box and the SSD itself, are totally bland. This is a complete non-issue, but the packaging and the drive itself look boring.4. The SN580 has more than 95% of the performance of this drive and while it runs hotter under loads, it is almost always cheaper and easier to find. The SN770 seems to be on stock clearance these days, so the 1TB version especially is harder to find for a good price; the 580 is newer and a better choice for most people and use cases, and it'll only get cheaper.Overall, this is a super decent drive if you can buy it at the lower price points. Better than the Crucial P3 Plus, 980 pro, SN580 in terms of the temps and sometimes the price. My 980 is now in an enclosure as a backup drive.

Value for money!
Its a good mid-range performance SSD. Its been out for a while and has established itself as super reliable. Speed seems to be decent as I am using on PCI gen3 but nothing earth shattering. Easy to install but the mount screw is not available in the package which was skimpy of WD, deducted a star for that. Heat level has barely exceeded 40 degrees so far, even though its my primary OS drive. You get Acronis software license free with it, which appears super useful for cloning and other purposes. Its a good drive for normal users and gaming beginners.

Great Speeds Even on Gen 3
I'm quite satisfied with the speeds I'm getting. I've installed this SSD in my laptop's PCIe Gen 3.0 slot, so naturally the performance isn't on par with full Gen 4 speeds. Still, for a Gen 4 NVMe running on a Gen 3 slot, it delivers impressive performance. No heating issues faced in last 6 month of use, even while heavy gaming and without any heatsink. Overall, a great product and value for money.
