A great USB-C dock for travel and home use
I wanted a small "dock" for my work laptop that also had a VGA port for projectors. Most projectors today have HDMI ports, but occasionally you will still find an old one with only VGA. Having HDMI and two USB ports means I can use this at home, leaving my desktop monitor, mouse, and keyboard all attached to this dock, having to only plug one thing in to have all three devices connected. The dock gets warm but not hot during usage. Not only does it work with HDMI monitors, but the audio information is passed too. That was unexpected and very nice. I'll report back if there are any problems connecting with VGA monitors or projectors.

Does the trick; cord is a little short
If you need a low cost way to connect an old VGA monitor to newer laptop and minimize the hassle of plugging in your keyboard and mouse to your laptop when you are at your dedicated workspace, this will do the trick. I wish the cord to connect to the Thunderbolt port was a little longer (as you can see from the picture. For scale, that is an 8.5"x11" sheet of paper underneath providing the black/white contrast.)If you are asking all sorts of questions like how fast the connections are, what type of USB port is it, is the USB port powered, etc., you should probably be considering a higher priced option, like a docking station. If you are in a hurry to get going, don't want to do all the research to decide what type of $250 docking station to get, go ahead and grab this.

Works Well
It is great for extra usb ports or connecting another display. It doesn't always work with every PC though. I get my chromebook to work with it, but I can't get my laptop to show a display. It does everything I really needed it to do, so I gave it 5 stars. I believe the limitation is with my PC, not the adapter. It was essential for me to add USB ports without taking away a port in the process. Using the USB-C format to connect to my computer accomplished that for me.

Read Carefully: Limited Function
I don't think there was enough description about the product. I specifically bought this one because it supports both HDMI and VGA. However when I try to extend to 2 screens ( one is VGA and the is HDMI output) from my laptop, it only allows either or, not both at the same time.Wish I had known this.

Video stops working.
After like 6 times of using it video output on both vga and hdmi stopped working. Usb 3.0 ports still working ok. Too much money for just a 3.0 usb hub that I have now.

It works.
This works. But be warned that you can not use the HDMI and VGA ports at the same time.
