TOMTOP Mini Digital Portable Music MP3/4 Player Micro SD/TF USB Disk Speaker FM Radio (Blue)

Decent radio, poor MP3 player.
Pros: Cheap. It has a nice visual aesthetic to it.The radio antenna is short but gets pretty good reception in my area. The little speaker actually sounds nice. The battery life is quite good once you turn the light off.Cons: Everything else. The MP3 feature is almost unusable in my opinion, because you can't sort files according to folder or choose in which order to play songs. The player automatically plays the MP3s in the order you copied them to the USB flash or SD card. You can only skip ahead one song at a time. You can't select an album or artist or anything like that. If you put hundreds of songs on a card, you'd better be prepared to listen to them all for hour and hours in exact order or spend all your time pushing the fast forward button. The screen only features four digits in a basic LCD display (like an alarm clock). Songs are all shown as a number. If you can figure out which song you want to listen to, write it down so you can skip to number 78 or whatever it is and hear it again. This definitely isn't a replacement for a standalone MP3 player. The player automatically searches out FM stations and enters them as presets. As far as I can tell you can't manually tune to a frequency. If the player skips over a station you want to hear, too bad.The light-up LED is neat but more of a gimmick and you'll probably turn it off after a couple uses. The interface is very basic and takes some getting used to. You have to hold down the reverse and forward buttons to adjust the volume, for example. If you want to turn on or off the LED you have to hold down the menu button for a few seconds. There are only four buttons total to control everything on the device. The text on the box is written in English but the manual inside is written solely in Chinese. I had to play around with the unit through trial and error to get it to work at all. The player may have more features that I'm not aware of. For example, I never figured out how to set the clock. I apologize if some of my information is incorrect because I don't know how to read Chinese! I think other people received an English manual. I was just unlucky. The USB charging cable is hilariously short. You'll want to get a replacement immediately.I haven't tried the Line-In/Aux function so I can't say how good it sounds. In conclusion, I've decided to use this thing solely as a portable radio and forget about the MP3, clock, or light-up features. I guess for the price it's OK as a small radio but it was advertised as much more.

Great sound, charging cable fixes FM reception
This tiny box provides an amazing amount of sound. My wife uses it to listen to classical music in the kitchen, and it can be heard from other parts of the house. At first I got very poor reception on FM, then I noticed that it improved dramatically when plugged in to the USB charging cable. The other end doesn't have to be plugged in to anything, it just acts as an additional antenna. The headphone might also work as an additional antenna. This would make a great travel alarm clock.

Surprisingly good.
I bought two of these from different sellers on a whim and I really like it. It's got a few issues, but for the price it's still worth getting.GOOD:- It sounds far better than I thought it would. I was really surprised. It's not a "boom-box" by any means, but it definitely doesn't sound "tinny". There's actually some depth there. It's also loud enough to hear with the shower running.- My battery lasts for about an hour and 10 minutes playing at the default volume level (which is "6", I believe.) Obviously if you play it louder it will last a little less, and if you play it softer it should last a little longer, but an hour is pretty good for what it is.- Even if it's been off for a long time, it starts playing the last MP3 you played when you turned it off- 3.5mm input and output jacks for headphones and connecting to your phone or mp3 player. Nice touch.- So far it's worked with every microSD card and USB drive I've got. (Various PNY, and Sandisks, when properly formatted to FAT). Be aware that it doesn't seem to work with NTFS or EXT formatted drives, EXFAT USB drives also didn't work in mine.NOT SO GOOD:- I wish the little LED light-show defaulted to "OFF" instead of "ON". It's neat for about 2 minutes and then you get tired of it. It's pretty tedious having to turn it off every time.- The FM reception is pretty weak, but the antenna is kinda short so that not too surprising.- No AM reception. Not a huge issue, but it would have been nice.- Having to hold down the next/previous track buttons to raise/lower the volume is kind of annoying, but not too bad.- The time can only be displayed in 24hr format (or at least I can't find any way to change this.)TIP: If you want to create an MP3 playlist, then copy the MP3s onto the card in the order which you'd like them to play. My projector also works like this. Basically every file has a "last modified" tag, which tracks when the file was created in the directory. This player plays files in order of oldest file to newest file. That's not going to help you if you have thousands of MP3s in a bunch of different subdirectories, but it works if you just want a simple playlist.

How could anybody give this more than 2 stars?
This unit is pretty bad! I cannot make the TT recognize SD cards and the radio function is pretty useless, as with the antenna fully extended it can find only the weakest FM stations in my neighborhood..None of the 4 buttons on the front seem to work at all! If you want to power it through the 6volt DC connector via the supplied cable that has a USB connector at the other end I suggest that you not plug that into the USB on a computer as that can cause problems with Windows. Instead I use a $5.00 power supply that plugs into 115VAC. It will recognize a USB key, but only if you turn the unit off, remove the key, then turn it on again. Then when you reinsert the key it will be recognized. The sound volume is not adjustable. But with all these complaints I am listening to the TT as I write this! The quantum (mini stereo/short wave radio) is in the bedroom, I reccomend it (the Quantum/Supersonic). Quantum FX AM FM SW 1-9 World Receiver With USB SD Slot MP3 Player - Quantum FX J114U However, for all its limitations the TomTop's sound quality is quite impressive for a single tiny speaker. But in the final analysis it is still a piece of junk!
