Worth every penny
Great value for money travel book with handy insider tips and informative descriptions of places to visit. The pull out map at the back is handy and robust.I found plenty of crossreferencing within the book making it easy to flick back and forwards to find out more information on places to go. I prefer less pages on eating and shopping and more on sightseeing normally but still the books are packed with juicy information, the larger and more expensive travel manuals also available in the range have more description about the history of places to visit and this smaller condensed version has less background and more current information. I tend to use Marco Polo for planning a trip rather than day to day on holiday because I don't believe any one book will give you everything you are looking for, but I make a point of buying one from the range before each holiday and doing further research if needed. Also bought - Paris and Rome

Florence in two days
I couldn't plan for a two day trip to Florence in advance although I had my tickets booked over two months in advance as I was quite busy.I read the book during my flight. The book was very useful in pointing out the best places to visit (the map is great too). However, I found the book a bit boring to read. Furthermore, as I visited the monuments mentioned in the book I didn't really know the history behind their creation. Instead of giving on average 1-2 pages per site (can hardly recall what they wrote) the author could easily have condensed it & also provided some interesting punchy facts. It would have been nice had the map provided inside the book pointed out where some of the top rated restaurants mentioned were. I couldn't find them as I was in a hurry to visit as many places I could so didn't have much time finding restaurtants.I admit I was disorganised while planning for the trip and relied on the book too heavily but unfortunately the book didn't help as much as I would have liked.

Brilliant guide
Really liked this , we went for a little break and I always buy one of these to help us find our way around places we have never been too.The information was great and we did the tours it recommended . It helped us to find places we wouldn’t have without it .A few places it recommended we couldn’t find though

Good in parts
This contains some useful overview information about Florence and its history and a useful separate map. But, in my opinion, it had too little information on what to see and and too much on hotels, restaurants, etc. Also, there seemed to be three levels of information about what to see, which had me flicking back and forth through the book.

Too complicated for a holiday maker
We were very much looking forward to the guided walks but they were so complicated to follow we gave up during the first one. The map at the back is excellent but too detailed and tiny to follow. The information is good. I would suggest reading it before your trip.
