 With all the negative reviews, I thought I was taking a big risk buying this. But it's been working great for me!Setup: Friedrich 12,000 BTU room ACFirst, follow the instructions given in their YouTube video--do a search on youtube for "Horsky Smart Plug Supports IR Control Air Conditioner"--to setup the smart switch. I use this to control one of the torchieres in the room. This step was entirely problem free.Second, do not follow the instructions in the YouTube video above for Quick setup or Brand name setup of the AC. Instead, use "DIY Add". This is not documented well, but is, fortunately, easy to understand in the app. In this mode, you point your remote at the smart switch and have it learn the codes for "power off", "set temperature", "change to fan mode", etc. In my case, it learned all the modes, except "power on"! I had to manually power on, and then I could ask Alexa (see below) to turn it off, etc. I finally got the solution from the seller for this problem: Don't ask Alexa to turn the AC on. Instead, sayAlexa, set <device name> to 25 degreesYou can program other values instead of 25. For example, I have programmed the ac's 25 to 77 degrees, the ac's 26 to 78 degrees, etc.This turns the AC on, and sets the temperature as desired.That's it!

The setup process requires that the user input their wifi password to an app. Then, the user then has no control over that information after it is submitted to the app.The application itself is untrustworthy based on the UI and apparent time spent the user's experience. There is no mention of what is done with your data and I suspect they do not care well for it. I didn't even get around to testing how well it worked because I could not get over the feeling that my information would be stolen and my wifi eventually hacked.I will stick with more reputable brands that I know will be around to hold accountable, should my information be leaked out there.

Blame either this unit or the app required to control it, but this has been the most unreliable experience in "smart" device management so far for me.The IR codes work during any version of setup for my new LG units, only to fail permanently during actual operation.The server (wherever it might be) is apparently unavailable or lagging often.I paid $17 for this turd, that they would charge more now is amusing. Great idea for a device, but just doesn't work for me.

Using this to automate my aquarium's lights and feeding schedule. It's relatively simple to setup, but the instructions aren't the greatest. They say to hold the button until the light slowly blinks, when it's the opposite, the light needs to be quickly flashing when you try to pair the setup.The app is great, very easy to use.

Worked good but now just keeps disconnecting. Very annoying, had high hopes for this so I didn’t need to buy a WiFi ac

It did not read my air conditioner and disconnected constantly over night, woke up very hot and could not breath. Not a pleasant feature. I did end up purchasing Sensibo - it is more money but it worked from the very first setup, very easy.

Product barely a couple of months old a the button no longer functions. Hate to pay $11 for it to only work two months.

Doesn't work to control aircon thru ir, manual is vague.Update: after checking the q & a , found a video instruction on how to set it up, got it to work. There are still kinks on the app, have to find how the settings work. Product is satisfactory .
