I bought this Amateur Radio for my car to replace an old FT-857D. I only needed 2m and 70cm FM and this radio is so much cheaper than the regular brands. I have not been disappointed, the small size has allowed for easy fitting. I am able to monitor any four fixed frequencies for activities or can scan and monitor in combination. Audio in and out is great. Free online software allows for easy programming, not easy to programme repeaters without it. Lots of different colour combinations to choose from. Scans quickly.The only downside is the screen size which is small, so if you struggle with your vision through old age you may need a radio with a bigger display. One strange feature is whenerver the radio detects activity on one of the four monitored frequencies it switches to making that the active frequency for transmit, this is slightly frustrating if you think you have heard a call on for example your nearest repeater and a little later you want to call through it, only to find you have switched frequency to a different one.4 stars for this radio, for the price can't be beaten.

Excellent value for money. Quirky little radio. Front end not to deaf and adjacent channel filtering needs to be improved. . Having said that programming is easy using Chirp , Power output difference only small between high and low. .For £70 to £ 80 odd quid its so affordable and the radio is small. Fan an asset but keep overs short to assist cooling . As stated buy radio with programming lead included. 73s
