Fantasy Kingdom Coloring Book for Adults

Your browser does not support HTML5 video.  I own several coloring books by Juliana Emerson and several more by other artists who publish under the imprint Happy Coloring.I have always appreciated Ms. Emerson’s work and regard even more highly after buying this book. My other books are animals and holidays while this one focuses on fantasy. There are lovely female figures and fantasy animals as well as realistic animals depicted in full scenes.The designs are detailed and, because of the smaller format (8.5 x 8.5 inches), are a little more intricate than usual.Some of the lines around the faces and necks of the figures are a little more stark than I usually appreciated but I can tone those down as I color in the book. Apart from that nit, I really like this book.I want to note that the Amazon owned company, CreateSpace is now being folded into KDF (Kindle Direct Publishing.) These independent artist books will move along into the new group shortly if they have not already done so by now. According to what I’ve read, the same warehouses and printing presses will be used. No mention is made of paper but one assumes that it will be the same as well.I don’t know if the copy I received was printed by CreateSpace or by KDP, but I can say that it is the same paper I am used to receiving (for years now) from CreateSpace. That is: thin, white, slightly rough, and non-perforated. I will continue to check books as I receive them and will note, in new reviews, if the quality changes.This is what I found in this coloring book:30 Fantasy figure and animal designs in the bookPrinted one side of the pagePaper is white, thin, slightly rough and non-perforated.The designs do not merge into the binding. The designs have framing lines at the outer edges.Glue BindingKDP (Kindle Direct Publishing – formerly CreateSpace) Paper/Media QualityAlcohol-based markers bleed through the page quickly.Water-based markers bleed through in spots.Gel pens and India ink pens leave shadows on back of the page. India ink can bleed through if you apply heavily or multiple coats.Coloring Pencils work fairly well with this publisher’s paper provided you don’t press extremely hard while coloring. I find that I can layers the same color for deeper pigment or multiple colors and blended easily with a pencil style blending stick. This is true of both oil and wax based pencils. I have also found that hard lead pencils leave dents through the paper.I like to use a blotter when working in this type of book. I use a page of card stock or several sheets of heavyweight paper under my working page. It keeps seeping ink and marring dents from ruining the pages below.

While this is a very small coloring book, it packs a lot of beauty! I'm not too familiar with the artist but I like the style. Not all pictures contain a girl and there are a few with fantasy creatures like dragons, unicorns or other Enchanted animals. It is quite unique book and I was only able to find a few pictures that I did not like it all.This is printed under create space and with the upcoming change over to KDP I am not sure if the quality of paper will change or not. As of now it is printed single-sided on non perforated paper

In the early part of 2018, I again took up coloring. I'm retired now and have many hours to fill. I have purchased probably 10 to 15 color books designed for adult colorists. I am a bit picky about the pages I color. I want the picture to have a story, even if it's nothing more than "the bird sat on her arm." This little book has beautiful pictures and is probably the only colorbook I've purchased in which I anticipate coloring every single page.

I am more than pleased with the beautiful images in this book! Although detailed they are not overwhelming. All are one sided images and the paper quality is good.

Great for relaxing, wonderful pictures with amazing detail! 10/10 would buy again! With my gel coloring pens there are no limits to the possibilities

Warning - The pictures in this book are so tiny, and so detailed, there's almost no way to color them. I'm returning this item.

I gave this as a gift for a woman and it felt a bit childlike, not adult coloring.

This has a lot of potential to become a great book but it lacks details and paper quality was disappointing.

I was looking for a new girl/fairy book and thought this would do the trick - alas it is not for me. As I was expecting the book is 81/2 inches square and on decent white paper with just 1 picture to each page. The pictures shown in the preview of the back of the book are the best ones in there and they are not that great. Many of the drawings are very simple and didn't live up to my expectations so I have returned it for a refund. If you like fairies and don't want anything too complicated then you will like this book.

Absolutely beautiful colouring book, smaller than most books but with lots of imagssto colour varying in intricacy. Ideal for taking out and about or when you go travelling. The pictures are beautiful recommend to anyone who loves fantasy pictures to colour!!

Very cute ifnot too small book

The artwork is so beautiful! I love it so much in fact, that after I received my first copy I purchased 4 more. The drawings are so charming I will for sure be colouring different versions of the same picture.I see she has a brand new book out and you can bet I will be ordering .....oh yes, more than one for sure.You get 10 🌟 from me Juliana!
