ETI SuperFast Thermapen 3 Classic Food Thermometer (White)

Bought this on recommendation to go with an air fryer, where testing the temperature is potentially more important when estimating cooking times and temperatures. It was more expensive than I would have hoped, but the ability to read an accurate temperature almost instantly, rather than having to wait until it stops changing, is a huge benefit. It feels robust and is good and easy to use, turning on and off automatically, and protecting the probe (and fingers) when folded away.

It's difficult to tell from photos when comparing this to the multitude of cheaper options, but it's great quality.Bought mainly for my wife who had started making more jam, but I nick it to check meat this also. We've had an analogue meat one for a while, but it didn't get much use.Ease of use is the key here and other reviewers are spot on. This thermometer is very simple and fast too use which matters when you have a hot oven open or a lot of things on the go.It's quick to read with no buttons to press. It has a simple, reassuringly sturdy build. Would have been nice to have a simple slip pouch too protect it from getting scratched up in a kitchen drawer.It works very well for jam even though it's not specific to that. I suppose a jam thermometer would allow you to just leave it in the pan and watch it whereas with this you just stick it in a few times to check.Works very well with meat and makes a real difference to be able to cook safely without overcooking.

At last a reliable way of gauging when a roast chicken is just right and not overcooked and dry

I've always used these thermapens (3), they're a great price (if you don't mind what colour you get) and they're so reliable. Battery usually last a very long time as long as you don't leave it open all the time, so clean and close as you go if you can. It's a fast read time which means you don't have to wait for it to get to the correct temperature that its reading. It's a clear display and easy to hold. The flick/fold out probe means it is easy to use at all angles reliably.I've never had to recalibrate but it seems simple to do. I've generally given some away to people and bought new, so do last a long time. I bought this as a spare for work, but my current one is at least 6 years old and still working great.It would be nice if it had a clip to hold it to the side of a pan maybe but then for the price I can't really complain.F.Oh.Oh.D- understanding food -

Brilliant and accurate

It’s the iPhone of thermometers,fast,accurate and expensive.I got it to measure the temperature in my fish tanks and would do it again.

Despite very gentle use, the product has stopped working 4 months after purchase. Around 3 months in the probe stopped reliably turning on when opened, leaving me to have to open and shut it several times before it turned on. Now it will not turn on at all, and it is not a battery issue. For such an expensive product I’m really unimpressed. Additionally, the quick temperature reading never worked, it always took several seconds to show an accurate temp.

This is just an excellent thermometer, it comes with a calibration certificate and is filled out by hand after ETI have tested it. Far too msny of the cheap ones available online have a plus or minus tolerance of up to two degrees, which for my purposes just isn't accurate enough.According to the calibration certificate with my thermopen, it should be accurate to within 0.4 degrees, which is great. I'm using it to monitor temperatures in my Koi Pond as I also heat it and need an accurate check so as not to waste energy and of course provide the optimum environment for the fish.My temperature controller on the heating system is currently set to 22 degrees and the thermopen is showing the pond water to be at 22.6 degrees, which would be about right.The unit itself feels sturdy and the metal rod measures the temperature from the tip only - 0.5mm, so all I have to do is dip it in just a bit and it gives me a reading within two seconds. Compared to others that I've bought, it's super fast.I love the fold out and it comes on immediately and close to power down, just makes it easier to use.Overall a quality piece of kit and highly recommended for any temperature measuring purpose.
